Thank you to all of the people who support the coalition.We could not have done it without you and your support!!!! We are overwhelmed with your support and loving every minute of it. Every birdhouse was sold and it was our most successful event so far!

The Artist and Celebrity Bird House Auction

The Artist and Celebrity Bird House Auction, is an annual event in Southampton, where celebrity stars, designers, artists, and sports figures “flock” together and create one-of-a-kind birdhouses. The birdhouses are to be auctioned off at a gala event to raise money and awareness for the South Fork Breast Health Coalition. The Coalition was founded in late 1994, to help educate women about the importance of self-breast exams and annual mammograms as preventative measures.

This year the well-known movie star Renee Zellweger, a summer resident of the Hamptons and supporter of breast cancer survivors will chair the event. “It is my pleasure to support the South Fork Breast Health Coalition, the East End Organization that supports women (and men) undergoing treatment for breast cancer, breast cancer survivors and their families.” says Ms. Zellweger  “The birdhouses are incredibly creative and well worth experiencing on this festive and inspiring evening. This years’ auction is certain to be another success.”

 

The birdhouse auction event was created by east end artist Karyn Mannix, who is a breast cancer survivor and benefited from the Coalition’s support programs. “I had to do something to show my appreciation.” explains Karyn “I decided that as an artist, my way to give back and raise money for the Coalition would be to bring the artistic community together for a creative and fun event.  Last year was such an overwhelming success; everyone is looking forward to seeing the birdhouses and the people who have created them. We have some great surprises this year!”

The Coalition is dedicated to relieving the day to day pressures of women undergoing radiation and chemotherapy by helping them manage their personal commitments. In addition, the Coalition offers an array of wellness and support programs focused on reducing stress and enhancing the quality of life. Their goal is to open a Community center where services can be offered under one roof.
